Home Remedies for Ulcers

  1. Bananas

Eating at least three ripe bananas per day reduces inflammation, strengthens the stomach lining and helps in treating painful ulcers.


  1. Honey

On consumption, Glucose oxidase present in honey produces hydrogen peroxide which kills dangerous ulcer causing bacteria. Taking two tablespoon honey daily in the morning on empty stomach cleanses the bowel, soothes the stomach lining and prevents future ulcer formation.


  1. Cabbage

Cabbage stimulates blood flow to the stomach lining and aids in healing the ulcer. It is a rich source of vitamin C which is helpful for patients with H. pylori infections. So, it is best to munch a big bowl of fresh cabbage salad.


  1. Carrots

Fresh carrot juice contains an anti-peptic ulcer factor (vitamin U) which is beneficial in treating Ulcers. Drinking half cup of fresh carrot juice before each meal and bedtime for few weeks is known to effectively treat ulcers.


  1. Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne pepper contains a compound capsaicin which inhibits the secretion of stomach acids, enhances mucus secretions and gastric mucosal blood flow, thereby impeding inflammation and healing ulcers. Mix quarter teaspoon cayenne pepper in a glass of warm water and drink twice a day for about ten to fifteen days to encumber stomach ulcers.


  1. Coconut

Coconut milk and coconut water both are known to have anti-ulcer properties. Drinking a cup of fresh coconut milk or coconut water and eating the tender coconut kernel daily for about a week gives great results.


  1. Garlic

Anti bacterial properties of garlic keeps the levels of the H. pylori – the ulcer causing bacterium in check. Including few cloves of raw garlic in your meals will help you solve your ulcer woes.


  1. Probiotics

Probiotics keep your digestive system in optimum health and aids in wiping out H. pylori. So include probiotic supplements like yogurt, kimchi and buttermilk in your meals.


  1. Cranberry

Fresh Cranberry juice and eating fresh cranberry helps in fighting H. Pylori. However, start with small amounts and increase the quantity gradually as it might cause upset stomach otherwise.


  1. Fenugreek

Fenugreek has powerful healing properties against stomach which protects the stomach’s lining by coating with mucus, thereby facilitating the process of healing. Dip one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds overnight in a cup of water and you can eat them with a little honey in the morning.
